About RateMyFart
The world's premier fart rating platform.
What is RateMyFart?
RateMyFart is a social entertainment platform where you can upload, share, and rate fart audio recordings. Think of it as a talent show for your most gaseous performances. Whether you produce thunderous rumbles, squeaky squeakers, or perfectly timed symphonies, there is a stage here for you. Every recording gets analyzed for loudness, pitch, and duration, so you can see exactly how your performance stacks up against the competition. The community votes on each recording with a 1-to-5 star rating system, and the best performances rise to the top of our leaderboards.
How It Works
Getting started is simple: sign in with your Google account, hit the "Let It Rip" button, and record your performance directly in the browser. You can also upload pre-recorded audio files. Once uploaded, our audio analysis engine automatically measures your recording's key metrics. Give your masterpiece a creative title, add a description if you want, and publish it for the world to hear. Other users can then listen to your recording, rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, and help determine whether you deserve a spot on the leaderboard. You can keep recordings private if you prefer to practice before going public.
Audio Analysis Metrics
Every recording uploaded to RateMyFart goes through automatic audio analysis that extracts three key metrics. Understanding these numbers helps you appreciate what makes each performance unique and how the leaderboard rankings are determined.
📢 Loudness (dB)
Measured in decibels, this is the peak amplitude of your recording. Higher absolute values indicate louder performances. The "Loudest" leaderboard category ranks recordings by this metric. A typical conversation is about 60 dB, while a jet engine is around 130 dB. Most fart recordings on our platform fall somewhere in between, though we have seen some impressively powerful entries.
🎵 Pitch (Hz)
Measured in Hertz, this is the peak frequency detected in your recording using spectral analysis. Lower frequencies produce deep, rumbling sounds, while higher frequencies create squeaky, soprano tones. The "Highest Pitch" leaderboard ranks by this metric. Human hearing ranges from about 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, and fart frequencies typically fall between 50 Hz and 3,000 Hz depending on the... technique involved.
⏱️ Duration
The length of your recording in seconds. Short and punchy or long and sustained — every style has its audience. Duration is displayed on each recording's detail page alongside the other metrics.
The Rating System
Community ratings are the heart of RateMyFart. Every logged-in user can rate any public recording on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. You cannot rate your own recordings — that would be too easy. The average rating and total number of ratings are displayed on each recording's page. The "Top Rated" leaderboard ranks recordings by their average community rating, with ties broken by total number of ratings. This means a recording needs both quality and popularity to reach the top. Ratings are anonymous, so rate honestly and let the best gas win.
The Leaderboard
The leaderboard is where legends are made. It has three categories: Top Rated (by community star rating), Loudest (by peak decibel level), and Highest Pitch (by peak frequency in Hertz). Each category showcases the top 10 performances. Compete across all three categories or specialize in one — the choice is yours. Leaderboard rankings update in real time as new recordings are uploaded and rated.
